Although he missed 36 regular season games due to injury, 2013-14 was a solid year for Russell Westbrook. Year after year we’ve come to question whether the Durant/Westbrook duo can ultimately lead to a championship, and year after year we’re left with these questions unanswered. A duo that lethal should be able to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy. The fact remains that Westbrook is easily the most polarizing figure in professional basketball today. We’ve seldom seen a guard as physically gifted as he (Derrick Rose’s impending return could alter these views); yet we truly don’t know where he is most valuable to a team. These past playoffs he demonstrated that he could be a true point guard when he feels like it, but in most instances he shows that his shot selection would better serve him as a 2 guard.

The 2014-15 will be a very pivotal year for the Westbrook/Durant partnership (notice how i switched the order?). As rumors continue to swirl about Durant’s departure from OKC in 2 years time, it is imperative that Russ & KD get over the hump, and get over it fast. With a healthy Ibaka, the WCF could’ve turned out differently. The Spurs will be a year older next season, OKC will have a little more pressure on them as well following KD’s monumental MVP season.

Back to the topic: Russell Westbrook when he wants to be, is the most talented and scariest PG in the league. #FactsOnly the numbers speak for themselves. But just when it seems he’s turned the corner for good, he always does something that leaves us scratching our heads. If he can find a way to satisfy the monster within without losing himself altogether…. Watch out! How much more can Mr. Westbrook develop and grow? Will it be enough to bring a championship to Oklahoma?? Yet to be determined….
